Come to the heart of Alberta, one of Canada's most beautiful regions, in the midst of pure, unspoiled nature far from the big cities. Created in 1907 in the province of Alberta, Jasper is the largest of all Canadian national parks: 10,878 km² of splendid immensity to explore! It is part of an even larger group of natural parks, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its landscapes are typical of the high mountains: snowy peaks, glaciers, turquoise lakes where the sky reflects when they are not frozen, hot springs (Miette Hot Springs). Let's not forget the rivers: Saskatchewan, Columbia and Athabasca, sometimes cut by spectacular waterfalls. In Jasper, you are far away from the urban bustle. The most important community, with the eponymous name, is a small town of 5,000 inhabitants, very well equipped. Finally, you are invited into the territory of typical Rocky Mountain wildlife: elk, moose, black and grizzly bears, cougars, wolves, coyotes and beavers, bighorn sheep and mountain goats. There's plenty to keep you busy for a few weeks in this wonderful park. The Icefield Parkway will already give you a magnificent overview of the site's riches. The 230 km Icefield Parkway from Lake Louise (Banff Park) to Jasper offers some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world. Visit the Icefields Interpretive Centre for information on glaciers. You can hike to the Athabasca Glacier or take a caterpillar bus. You will pass by Peyto Lake, fed by the glacier of the same name. Admire also the Athabasca Falls, 25 m high. The Sunwapta Falls await you a little further north towards Jasper. For a comforting break, the Miette Hot Springs are open from mid-May to mid-October. Finally, don't miss one of the visual highlights of the park: Maligne Lake and its sumptuous scenery of snow-capped peaks.
